Week #120 of Sunday Setlists. Here is our setlist for Sunday, November 7th.
- Open the Eyes of My Heart by Paul Baloche
- Praise to the Lord, the Almighty by Travis Cottrell
- A Mighty Fortress by Christy Nockels
- Beautiful the Blood by Steve Fee
It was a great morning at Bethel. Worship through song was amazing and we had a lot of other great stuff going on. We had a baptism and took communion. Our pastor finished Hebrews 12 this morning. As I was reading over the passage last week, I got to the last verse and the verses leading up to it, and it's talking about the unshakable kingdom of God and that He is a consuming fire. My mind automatically went to the song A Mighty Fortress by Christy Nockels. It's a song that we've never done before, but I brought it to my team at our rehearsal, and they picked it right up. We did as a special music number and it went great.
This past week I was reading Facedown by Matt Redman. A lot of great stuff in that book, but I ran across one section that resonated with our opening song, so I shared it with the congregation as we began our service. I want to share it with all of you now, as I believe it should be the focus of our worship, especially as worship leaders. We primarily lead worship through song, but the songs are just a tool. True worship begins in the heart.
"Each time we gather together as a worshipping community, we must find ways to reflect these aspects of the nature and character of God. The songs are one thing. But it goes way beyond the music. It's our whole approach. Are we preparing our heart for a divine encounter?"To check out what others are doing in their services and learn more about what Sunday Setlists is all about, check out TheWorshipCommunity.com at http://www.theworshipcommunity.com/sunday-setlists-120/

Love Cottrell's PRAISE TO THE LORD.... it's one of my favorites.
